Deji Somolu 29th April 2011

Even though it's been (sadly) decades since i last saw my Uncle Gerald and that was when i was just a little kid, I nevertheless have good memories of him. I remember him as a very easy going person with a very warm and caring heart. Every time we visited Sierra Leone (when he and his family were still there), he always was on ground to make sure we had a fun and engaging time. He was very approachable - no mean streak in him. I'm really sad I didnt get to see him again since the early 80's, but I take heart in knowing that this was a man who, no matter the challenges that life may have thrown at him, he faced them head on and NEVER gave up. May God give us all, especially his dear wife, my lovely Aunt Dorothy and his children (my cousins), Alvin and Sarah - all who i haven't seen for yonks - the strength to bear this great loss. God bless you Uncle Gerald. Fondly remembered by Ayodeji Somolu (Aunty Pam's son)
